Organizational Quality Control Manual
I copy-edited APEG-BC’s Organizational Quality Management Manual and Guidelines, which govern the professional practice of about 25,000 engineers and geoscientists across the province of British Columbia. The first task was to improve English style and make the material more readable and approachable, especially for engineers in training and technologists. Further, I had to ensure that technical terms were used consistently across a sprawling collection of Word documents, and smooth out variations in tone and register. I also hand-built a detailed index, which anticipated user errors such as reference to common synonyms, and correctly cross-referenced related concepts.
This was independent and responsible freelance work, and the resulting document had to be free of error. APEG-BC was delighted with the outcome, and I’m on their approved-supplier list.
